Huawei: World's highest 5G base station on Mount Everest

In 2008, Huawei and China Mobile built a 3G base station on Mount Everest at an altitude of 6,500m to support the flame-lighting ceremony of the Beijing Olympics. After that, it provided mobile communication services for countless mountain enthusiasts. It has been running for 11 years.

This time Huawei and China Mobile upgraded the base station to 5G, and raised its altitude to 7,024m, the highest 5G base station in the world.

The Mount Everest base station needs to overcome the various difficulties such as multi-Gbps data backhaul transmission, high capacity base station power supply, extreme cold temperatures, extreme windy weather, logistics, etc. It is the best embodiment of Huawei's comprehensive capabilities of microwave transmission + 5G equipment, energy solutions, material technology, and base station construction.

The world's highest 5G base station Ren said: "its purpose is to save lives, not to make money."

If a telecom vendor can build a 5G base station on Mount Everest, it can build 5G in any corner of the world.
